How long do the sessions last?
When you are a beginner/ trying to improve your swimming it is best to keep lessons relatively short. It is important to focus on a couple of key things to work on. It can be quite overwhelming when learning new skills and it takes time.
I would recommend 30 minute sessions to begin with and can be booked either as a single session of a block of 4 or more. This is completely individual so get in touch if you need any advice with this.
Doing a block with some time in-between ( a couple of weeks), means you can go away and work on the drills I give you in your own time thus helping progression.

Getting you more confident in the water.
It is a struggle to just get to the pool without worrying about how hard it is to push off the wall and complete 1 length. Fear not! You are not alone.
Swimming is a very technical sport however it doesn't have to take long before a couple of simple changes transforms your whole swimming stroke!
BIGGEST change is becoming confident to get your head down and get to grips with breathing!

I offer 1 to 1 coaching and video analysis but also offer group coaching if you would prefer to take a friend or family member along to join in.

If you are new to open water swimming I can even organise small groups going out together so you can get more confident swimming outdoors. We will look at technique and tips for building up to more wild swimming.

Where do you do the sessions?
I am a believer that you don't need to only swim in a swimming pool.
Yes it is a great way to get a lot of technique work done but I also advocate open water swimming for many reasons.

For coaching I offer lesson in three different places:
-Endless Swimming Pool
-The River Dee
-The Sea
- Lochs (there are plenty to chose from, most popular for those based in Aberdeen is Knockburn Sporting Loch).
I can also do video analysis for all three but this is more effective in the endless pool as the water is more clear underwater.

GETTING STARTED
Whether you are super competitive and train for racing, fat-loss, a weekend hobby, hill walker or are even a gym fanatic, swimming is for you!

As someone who trains with runners and cyclists, I am always trying to get more people to give triathlon a go. However, the number of people who say that they cannot swim is astonishing. I have worked with many children and adults of all ages and abilities, including many with severe disabilities.
Everyone can learn to swim!

I know it may seem pretty daunting even just thinking about going back into a swimming pool especially if the last time you went swimming was in P.E class but just go for it!
Swimming is a zero- impact sport making it a fantastic aerobic workout to carry out in between your training to maintain cardiovascular fitness whilst giving your joints a chance to recover.
If you are ever feeling achy, get into the pool and give your body a break. You don’t have to be swimming hundreds of lengths to benefit from being in water.
